What this model shows
The plates are a model. The zone diameters of your plate, the class plates and plate R are simulated values, not one class’s measurements.
The 48 hours in the incubator are sped up into a few seconds.
The two lenses magnify by different amounts: a cold virus, about 0.03 µm across, is drawn far larger than it would be beside the 2 µm bacterium.
(Supplement) The population of 40 bacteria is a model, not to scale: a real population holds millions of bacteria, and the counts after each course are model values.
With reduced motion each process is shown at one moment and then at its end.
