What this model shows
The wait is shortened: 10 minutes take about 12 seconds here.
The look comes from a simple model: copper grows on the part of the zinc in the solution, and the blue fades with it, to about 0.6 of its strength after 10 minutes. Real amounts depend on the size of the strip and how concentrated the solution is.
The magnifier’s particles are a model, drawn much larger and slower than real ones, and the water molecules are left out. In a real strip, many zinc atoms lose electrons at once.
With reduced motion, each step finishes at once, and the magnifier shows the whole transfer with its path.
